(WASAGA BEACH, SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ESSA TOWNSHIP, ON)- Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Nottawasaga Detachment of the OPP partnered to conduct joint Festive RIDE checks.

On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, officers from both the Huronia West and Nottawasaga Detachments partnered to conduct joint Festive RIDE checks in Wasaga Beach, Springwater Township and Essa Township. This ongoing initiative is part of the province-wide Festive RIDE campaign, aimed at promoting increased road safety during the holiday season.

By joining forces, officers reinforced their commitment to reducing impaired driving and ensuring everyone gets home safely. Officers engaged with motorists, conducted RIDE checks, and reminded drivers that safe driving saves lives. As a result of the afternoon enforcement multiple Provincial Offences were issued in addition to the following:

Adam SUCHALL, 32-years-old of Wasaga Beach, charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive Vehicle or Boat with cannabis readily available

Tara BROWN, 40-years-old of Wasaga Beach, is charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

Both accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, to answer to the charges.

During the campaign, which continues until January 1, 2026, motorists can expect an increased police presence as officers conduct RIDE initiatives around the clock, seven days a week, across the province. Impaired driving is never worth the risk, plan ahead for a safe ride home.

The OPP reminds motorists that impaired driving is a serious threat to public safety and is never worth the risk. If you suspect someone is driving while impaired, call 9-1-1 immediately. Together, we can keep our roads safe for everyone.
