-Male now arrested and charged-
(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – Members of the Crime Unit of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) squad have now arrested a male party in relation to a robbery that occurred in the downtown core of Collingwood in the early hours of Saturday, July 12, 2025.
At approximately 1:08 a.m., officers responded to an incident on Ste. Marie Street, near the parking lot adjacent to the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena. Upon arrival, police located two individuals in distress, both of whom had been sprayed with bear spray. One of the victims also sustained a visible head injury. Both individuals were transported to Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and released.
Preliminary information found that the victims were approached by a group of approximately seven individuals. One of the suspects was reported to have partially covered their face with a t-shirt. The group fled through the parking lot toward Hurontario Street prior to police arrival.
Officers conducted extensive patrols in the area and followed up on several leads, including traffic stops involving individuals in the vicinity. The ongoing investigation continued with Collingwood OPP Crime Unit members attempting to locate the accused in this matter.
On January 20, 2026, the accused, who was wanted for numerous outstanding charges for unrelated incidents, was located in Wasaga Beach and was taken into custody.
Charged is Carmen BERARDINELLI, 24-years-old from Scarborough, he is charged with Robbery with a Weapon, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Fail to Comply with Undertaking, Fail to Attend for Fingerprints, two counts of Administer Noxious Thing and seven counts of Assault,. He was held for a bail hearing and later released by the courts with a future court date.
