Round-robin games set for Milton, Trenton, Cobourg, Mississauga beginning Nov. 4

The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) is proud to announce the new OJHL Prospects Series, a showcase event highlighting the top 2008- and 2009-born players from across the region. The six-game series will take place in four communities — Milton, Mississauga, Trenton, Cobourg — with details regarding the championship game to be announced in the coming weeks.

The Prospects Series will feature six teams competing in a round-robin format followed by a championship game. Selected players will be named to three teams representing OJHL East and three teams representing OJHL West. Following the round-robin, the top two teams will advance to the championship game.

A preliminary list of participating prospects includes more than 90 players who have been drafted by Ontario Hockey League teams and players with NCAA Division I commitments, underscoring the depth of talent taking part in the Prospects Series.

“The landscape in junior hockey has rapidly changed,” said Rick Morocco, OJHL VP Business Operations.  “The OJHL Prospects Series is a great new event designed to showcase the top 2008 and 2009 players over a multi-month period of time with the goal of showing each player’s development, while preparing them for higher levels of hockey in the next step in their career.”
