🎶 Big Band Concert Supports First Presbyterian Church’s New Air Conditioning Upgrades, Benefiting Local Arts Community

First Presbyterian Church, one of Collingwood’s largest concert venues, invites local music-lovers to step back in time to the big band era of the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s for an exciting fundraiser concert which supports the recent installation of much-needed air-conditioning in their Sanctuary.
This special afternoon fundraising concert features the very popular Toronto All-Star Big Band, who have created a fresh, specially-curated program featuring a new selection of favourites from the golden age of swing – just for this event. Their vibrant cast of exceptional young talent from across the GTA delivers brilliant programming, seamless dance choreography, and an infectious energy bringing legendary hits like In the Mood, and Take the “A” Train to life. Funds raised will help to recoup the investment in climate control, improving comfort for audiences, performers and community groups who use the church throughout the year.
Lindsay Rowe, member of First Presbyterian’s Finance Committee shared: “We’re delighted for our upcoming fundraising concert and grateful that so many community members have already purchased tickets for it in support of our new air conditioning system. It has already made a welcome difference for this summer’s concert presentations by Collingwood’s thriving local cultural community, and our church’s own events, too.”
The upgrades will support concerts, lectures, worship services and many of the area’s premier cultural events presented by local organizations including: Collingwood Music Festival, Theatre Collingwood, Choral Works, Fifth Street Creative Initiatives, Georgian Triangle Music Teachers Association, Royal Conservatory of Music, Songbird Music Studio, and, the church’s own presentations at Christmas and summer vacation bible camp.
